Moose-Antler Firesteels...

I made these recently using some moose antler a friend from Canada sent me:)

what is that liquid you put the stag in? whats the purpose?

Hey there!
It's a 50/50 solution of linseed oil and turpentine/turpenoid. One of the guys on our forum (Crookedknife) suggested this to me, if you're interested in trying it yourself, please check out the thread about Moose antler, I think it's called "Moose Antler is Porous?" CK put a lot of info into those posts he wrote in there, very very knowledgeable chap and very friendly.
The solution hardens and preserves the antler while giving it a nice aged look. I left it in for at least a week, at CK's suggestion.
